Bring your students with you

Import a student roster from a spreadsheet, including Teachworks and TutorCruncher exports. Map the columns and check the preview before saving.

Export once, check the preview, save

In Students, choose Import students and select a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file. Axtant suggests columns for first name, surname, student ID, feedback recipient and groups. Confirm the choices against sample values, then review the proposed student records before saving.

Axtant stores a surname initial, not the full surname from your file. Feedback email is optional. Choose the address that should receive released feedback; a billing contact is not automatically the right recipient.

From Teachworks

Open the relevant student list in Teachworks and use its Excel download. Choose the downloaded worksheet in Axtant and confirm the column mapping. If Teachworks exports an older .xls file, save it as .xlsx or CSV first.

If your export includes Student Groups, map each group to one or more Axtant cohorts. Groups absent from the export can be assigned in Axtant after you import.

From TutorCruncher

Go to People, then Students. Apply the filters you want and choose Export CSV. You need the export permissions specified by TutorCruncher. Upload that file into Axtant and confirm the name and student ID columns.

TutorCruncher labels and jobs may represent different things from Axtant cohorts. Choose cohort membership explicitly. Do not assume a label such as a payment status is a class.

Existing details stay safe

An existing student ID helps Axtant find the right record. If only a name and initial match, you choose whether it is the same student or someone new. Shared email addresses never merge students.

Blank optional cells keep existing details. Imported cohort memberships are added to the student’s current enrolments. Removing a cohort or clearing a recipient address is a separate, deliberate change in student management.

Invite tutors separately

In Tutors, upload a spreadsheet of tutor email addresses, select their subject and cohort access, then review the invitation list. Axtant skips active members and pending invitations. Tutors accept their email invitation before they gain access.

A student import does not create tutor accounts or send invitation emails.

No connected account required

This is file import support. You do not connect an API, share a Teachworks or TutorCruncher password, or buy either product to use Axtant. You only need access to export the records from the system you already use.

Teachworks and TutorCruncher are separate products. Their names identify supported export workflows; they do not imply a partnership or endorsement. Changes to export columns can be handled in the mapping step.
